#  GRTS - How the programme works

GRTS (Global Responsible Textile [Standard](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/standard "<p>standard glossary text</p>")) applies one consistent programme across the entire textile production process.

It covers all stages after raw fibre production, including processing, manufacturing and trading, ensuring that every step meets strict environmental and social criteria and is verified through independent certification.

For a product to carry the GRTS label, every company in the supply chain must be certified.

##  The GRTS certification process ensures that:

- Every processing stage is certified
- Every company in the supply chain is audited
- Every product transaction is documented and verified

The result is a consistent, traceable and verified programme from fibre to finished product.

##  Scale and global implementation

GRTS is built on the existing Global [Standards](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/standard "<p>standard glossary text</p>") certification infrastructure:

- 26 approved Certification Bodies
- Implementation experience across global textile supply chains
- Established [traceability](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/traceability "<p>The ability to trace the origin of an object back to its source. <br>In a GOTS context, the ability to trace a GOTS Good as it moves through its supply chain.</p>") and transaction verification systems
- Alignment with existing [GOTS](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/gots "<p>The worldwide leading voluntary sustainability standard for the post-harvest textile value chain for certified organic fibres, covering environmental criteria, human rights, social criteria and business conduct.</p>") certification processes

The standard is designed for rapid global implementation across multiple responsible fibre categories.
