Its founders are: International Association Natural Textile Industry, Japan Organic Cotton Association, Organic Trade Association, Soil Association.</p>") is commencing a new cycle of revision to the Global [Organic](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/organic "<p>'Organic' is a regulated term used to distinguish systems of managed production and products derived therefrom that adhere to principles of health, ecology, fairness and care, and which are certified compliant to an organic standard's regulations by an Approved Certification Body. <br>GOTS defines organic textiles as being made with fibres from organic agriculture systems that are certified to one of the IFOAM Family of Standards, and that are processed in socially and ecologically responsible ways, in alignment with organic principles.</p>") Textile [Standard](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/standard "<p>standard glossary text</p>")—GOTS—(and Implementation Manual) in 2025. This process begins with the formation of an honorary, multi-stakeholder [Standard](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/standard "<p>standard glossary text</p>") Revision Committee (SRC).

**We invite stakeholders from across the textile value chain to be part of this committee and contribute to taking GOTS forward.** (re: Section 2.2.3 / Terms of Reference)

SRC Members’ contributions shall be required primarily during online consultations specifically related to [inputs](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/input "<p>General term for all Substances and Preparations directly applied as textile auxiliary agents, inks, dyes or pigments.</p>") received from stakeholders in the during the public commenting phase. It is expected that the member would need to attend between 5 and 8 virtual meetings in 2025 during the process, each lasting about 90 minutes and provide feedback on documents shared within requested deadlines. Meetings shall be arranged on Microsoft Teams.

The revision process itself shall generally follow the following timeline:

- Invitation to join SRC: Completed, applications publicly requested and received in October 2024. Applications now closed.
- Finalisation and announcement of SRC members: Nov - Dec 2024
- Release of First Revision Draft for public consultation: Jan 2025
- First public consultation period ends: Mar 2025
- Analysis of public inputs received by GOTS standard development unit: Mar-Apr 2025
- Deliberations with the SRC on inputs: May / Jun 2025 (virtual meetings)
- Release of second revision draft for public consultation: Jul 2025
- Analysis of public inputs received by GOTS standard development unit: Aug-Sep 2025
- Deliberations with the SRC on inputs: Sep-Oct 2025 (virtual meetings)
- Finalisation of GOTS version 8.0 by SRC: Dec 2025
- Formal approval of GOTS v 8.0 by [Advisory Council](https://gots.vorschau.website/resources/glossary/advisory-council "<p>The Advisory Council is the decisive committee for relevant organisational, structural and operational issues of the Global Standard gGmbH, the operating body of the Global Organic Textile Standard. Since the SRC can only have a limited number of members, should there be more than 2 applicants from one sector of the value chain. An online poll shall be conducted for applicants to vote for two members of their choice, re: Section 2.2.3.3 /Terms of Reference referred above.
